Why Eat Clean?

We are a product of our environment.  Chemicals are found in maternal blood, placental tissue and breast milk so chemical contaminants are being passed on to the next generation. Toxins are not just in the air.  They are in our food.

Clean eating will help you rid your body of some of  thesetoxins.  Clean eating will create a balance in your body. Some foods create unbalance because they are common allergens.  Some produce an acidic response in your body which causes an unbalanced pH.  Some foods create peeks a valleys in your blood sugar which causes inflammation. Clean eating will bring a healthy balance to your body by balancing your blood sugar, balancing your pH and getting rid of inflammation.

Blood Sugar:

We are overfed and under nourished in America.  All calories are not created equal. If you eat “empty” calories you will be hungry quicker than if you had consumed “nutrient dense” calories.  When you eat “empty” calories you put your body on a “blood sugar roller-coaster”.   Your blood sugar is raised and then in a few hours your blood sugar drops.  When your blood sugar drops or “crashes” it signals your body to eat again.  By the time your blood sugar bottoms out, you are feeling the fatigue and cravings characteristic of the insulin response. So you eat more “empty” calories and it starts all over again.  When blood sugar is balanced you get rid of a lot of cravings and constant hunger. 

Balance your pH:

Clean eating will help balance your pH.   An acidic pH can occur from an acid forming diet.   An acidic balance will: decrease the body's ability to absorb minerals and other nutrients, decrease the energy production in the cells, decrease it's ability to repair damaged cells, decrease it's ability to detoxify heavy metals, make tumor cells thrive, and make it more susceptible to fatigue and illness.  The reason acidosis is more common in our society is mostly due to the typical American diet, which is far too high in acid producing animal products like meat, eggs and dairy, and far too low in alkaline producing foods like fresh vegetables.  Additionally, we eat acid producing processed foods like white flour and sugar and drink acid producing beverages like coffee and soft drinks.  We use too many artificial chemical sweeteners which are poison and extremely acid forming.  One of the best things we can do to correct an overly acid body is to clean up the diet and lifestyle.  To maintain health, the diet should consist of 60% alkaline forming foods and 40% acid forming foods.  To restore health, the diet should consist of 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acid forming foods.

Inflammation:

An acidic environment causes inflammation.  Inflammation is behind every disease process.  Heart disease is the number one killer, approximately 41 percent of Americans will be diagnosed with cancer and two out of three adults are obese.  Creating an alkaline anti-inflammatory environment in your body will keep you healthier.  Disease cannot grow in an alkaline environment.  An anti-inflammatory diet is what we want.  Your body’s ability to process toxic trash plays a big role in your ability to lose weight and reach a healthy goal weight. Struggling with this issue your body expands the number of fat cells and stuffs them with toxins as well as fat. This is done to get the toxic trash out of your circulation and away from key organs. It causes easy weight gain and complicates weight loss because your body does not easily give up the toxic fat it has stored.  If you release the toxins the fat will follow.
