Are you throwing away the most nutritious part?

Have you ever eaten an Avocado?    How about the seed?  OMG. Last night a church  in a wellness class the uber educated instructor said the seed has amazing benefits and we should eat them.  Well, maybe drink them in a smoothie (if you have a Incredible Hulk type blender). I love my Vitamix.

So, I decided to look it up, and he is right.  That seed is where most of the nutrition is stored.  Holy guacamole. It's time to stop throwing away the most nutritious part.  The article I read suggested cutting it into 4 pieces and that 1/2 a seed is a serving.  You and dry them out for a few days in a sunny window.  Or, just blend it up.  If you want to read up on it, here is the article I read.

The major benefits are fiber and polyphenols that are are antioxidants  which are plant chemicals that, according to the University of Michigan Integrative Medicine, "may help prevent cancer, heart disease, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, stroke, obesity, arthritis, and other diseases by:
  • Inhibiting growth of cancer cells
  • Reducing high blood pressure
  • Protecting against stroke
  • Improving blood flow to the heart
  • Reducing total and LDL (“bad”) cholesterol
  • Inhibiting the formation of blood clots in artery walls
  • Stabilizing blood sugar levels
  • Lowering the risk for osteoporosis
  • Acting as an anti-inflammatory agent
  • Enhancing immune function and helping fight infections
  • Protecting against viral infections and liver disease
  • Inhibiting the growth of bacteria that can cause gum disease, cavities, and bad breath
  • Exhibiting an antibacterial effect on harmful bacteria inside the body
  • Improving brain function and preventing brain cell death"
Other sources of these antioxidants are in green tea including Arbonne Fizz drink, cloves, cocoa, flax seed which included in Arbonne protein powder , Mexican oregano, dried, and many more.
